Our treatment experience allows us to remain at the forefront of providing the best Physiotherapy practice for people with complex and severe injuries including pelvic and hip pain disorders. That means we might incorporate a combination of manual therapy & Exercise Rehab protocols including Dr Alison Grimaldi’s exercise program to enhance your treatment and rehabilitation experience. Our 5 physiotherapists, Jay Cunningham, Barb Hungerford, Vanessa Barnes, Michelle Wong & Amy Greenlees are here to help you move and feel better.

  • "Physiotherapist/Physical Therapist"

    With over 25 years of clinical expertise, Jay has specialised diagnostic and treatment skills in treating pain and dysfunction of the hip, lumbo-pelvic and neck/shoulder regions. She is often requested by specialist physicians to consult in cases where differential diagnosis and/or specificity in targeted rehabilitation is needed for both amateur and professional athletes and dancers. Her personal experience of a career ending injury as a professional dancer motivated Jay to develop specialised skills in providing effective treatment for all active individuals from the weekend warrior to the elite athlete, and excellence in managing dance specific conditions, particularly of the hip and pelvis. She is skilled in meeting her patients where they are at, communicating the underlying mechanisms of their problem, and collaborating with her patients to design effective treatment plans for long term solutions. In addition to completing the online and in person series of courses with Dr Alison Grimaldi and being a Hip Pain Academy member, Jay has undertaken extensive mentoring with Dr Barb Hungerford, and completed the full series of AMTA courses in integrated approaches to the spine, pelvis, neck and thorax. She has also completed the Integrated Systems Model approach with Diane Lee PT, providing a framework for whole body assessment in determining the most effective and specific treatment approach for each individual, in improving their functional performance.

  • "Physiotherapist/Physical Therapist"

    Vanessa Barnes is an experienced physiotherapist who graduated in 2002 from Sydney University. She is also a qualified psychologist and a member of the Australian Physio Association and British Ballet Association. Vanessa has worked in private practice for 18 years and has a strong diagnostic and treatment skills in treating pain and dysfunction of the hip, lumbo-pelvic and neck/shoulder regions. She is often involved in networking with specialists to consult in cases where differential diagnosis and/or specificity in targeted rehabilitation is needed for both amateur and professional athletes and dancers. She combines her advanced skills in Muscle Energy techniques, McKenzie, Maitland, ISM and cranio-sacral approach to improve articular mobility and reduce joint pain and stiffness. Vanessa has completed online and in person series of courses with Dr Alison Grimaldi and is a Hip Pain Academy member. She has also undertaken extensive mentoring with Dr Barb Hungerford, and completed the full series of AMTA courses in integrated approaches to the spine, pelvis, neck and thorax. She has trained in Lumbo-Pelvic Stability retraining and Pilates approach to exercise rehabilitation and therefore combines manual therapy with exercise rehabilitation to assist each patient with full recovery. Vanessa has extensive experience in creating specific progressions in exercise rehabilitation programs for lumbo-pelvic, neck, and hip rehabilitation and is involved in running the Specific Exercise Classes provided at Sydney Spine and Pelvis Physiotherapy Centre.

    Vanessa has attained her Level 3 Sports Certificate in 2012 and previously worked for a number of sports teams such as local rugby and soccer squads. She is also involved in treatment of ballet related injuries, including hip, knee and ankle injuries.
