ABOUT SURREY HILLS PHYSIO CENTRE

Surrey Hills Physiotherapy is an innovative physiotherapy practice offering comprehensive assessment, treatment and management services by experienced and highly qualified physiotherapists.
We are committed to high quality evidence based physiotherapy and many of our physiotherapists have post graduate qualifications.

Our team of physiotherapists and clinical myotherapists have extensive experience working in private practice, private and public hospitals and sporting teams at a high level.

We are passionate about working with patients with a broad range of clinical conditions and we specialize in managing acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders and chronic disease management.

We all have had extensive experience treating hip pathologies, in particular lateral hip pain in perimenopausal women. All our practitioners are up to date with evidence practice guidelines for management of this condition both in a one to one consultations and in a group environment. We offer also the following programs:

Rehabilitation Programs
All potential participants for our exercise groups are thoroughly assessed prior to commencing a group-based exercise program. An exercise program is tailored to each patient’s specific needs.  Our physiotherapists are trained in a wide range of exercise platforms and our exercise prescriptions will reflect this.

Functional Strength Training
Functional Strength Training is defined as training that attempts to mimic the specific physiological demands of real-life activities.  Exercises will enhance muscle tone; improve function and help manage Osteoporosis.

Kinetic Link Training (KLT)
KLT utilises full body integrated movement patterns.  It is considered to be a more efficient and highly effective approach to strengthening natural human movement.  This enhances the ease of performance of daily tasks plus improves occupational strength, sports performance and bone health.

GLA:D
GLA:D is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms.  This program is unique in that the education and exercises provided can be applied to everyday activities.  By strengthening and correcting daily movement patterns, participants will train their bodies to move properly, prevent symptom progression and reduce pain.

Clinical Pilates
Clinical Pilates is a highly individualized form of equipment based Pilates practised by physiotherapists at our centre. An individual, directionally specific exercise program is devised by your physiotherapist that takes into account any existing pathology. Developed by Australian physiotherapists this modification of traditional pilates focuses on motor control exercises to enhance muscular and movement efficiency.
How does it differ from a gym workout? A physiotherapist assesses and then designs a specific program for you. It is highly tailored for you taking into consideration your movement preferences, pathology and age. A series of exercises are designed that optimally engage your trunk and core muscles. It is aiming to improve the control of the small stabilizers of the spine rather than purely working on power and strength. This program is constantly refined and progressed over time. Health rebates apply for these groups if you have extras cover.  Some funds may not reimburse groups codes if your program consists solely of Pilates exercises.
